Independence from established habits, independence from brewing clichés—New England India Pale Ale has freed itself from the stodginess and snobbery of the styles it came from. It does not chase bitterness, nor is crystal clarity its ideal. And on top of that, it is hopped as if you were pouring tea into the Atlantic. That is why we consider this beer—with flavors of tropical fruit, citrus, pine needles, spices and resins, fragrant, juicy and hazy like juice—a symbol of Independence.
